President William Ruto officially opened the refurbished Bungoma Immigration Office . Accompanied by Interior Cabinet Secretary Prof. Kithure Kindiki, the President underscored the government’s commitment to decentralizing services and improving access for citizens.
Originally established in 2010 as a passport collection center, the Bungoma office has undergone substantial upgrades and refurbishment under the current administration. The enhancements have transformed it into a fully-fledged immigration office, now capable of serving the counties of Bungoma, Busia, Kakamega, Vihiga, and Trans Nzoia. The facility will now provide a range of services including the issuance of passports, work permits, and other crucial immigration services for the management of foreign nationals.
“This upgraded facility is a testament to our administration’s dedication to bringing services closer to the people,” said President Ruto during the inauguration ceremony. “We recognize the importance of efficient service delivery in fostering economic growth and enhancing the quality of life for our citizens.”
Prof. Kindiki echoed the President’s sentiments, highlighting the strategic importance of the Bungoma office in the region. “This upgrade not only eases the burden on Nairobi’s central immigration office but also ensures that residents of Western Kenya can access vital services without unnecessary travel,” he said.
