The long-awaited Kangu Kangu Water Project in Kitui County is set for commissioning by the end of June this year, following a crucial meeting between Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe and World Vision National Director Gilbert Kamanga. The initiative, a partnership between the County Government of Kitui and World Vision, is expected to bring transformative changes in water accessibility, sanitation, hygiene, and nutrition, ultimately improving the livelihoods of residents.
To ensure the smooth execution of the final stages, a six-member committee has been appointed to oversee the project’s completion. Once operational, the project will provide an estimated 1.4 million liters of water daily, significantly alleviating water shortages in the region. This development marks a major milestone in Kitui’s efforts to address water scarcity and improve public health.

Beyond Kangu Kangu, the discussions between Governor Malombe and Kamanga also opened doors for further collaboration. The leaders explored the possibility of expanding their partnership to include the Ngomano Water Project in Kitui East. This move underscores a broader commitment to long-term water security and sustainable development across the county.
With water access being a persistent challenge in many parts of Kitui, the commissioning of the Kangu Kangu Water Project will be a game-changer for thousands of households. As the county government and World Vision continue to strengthen their partnership, residents can look forward to improved living standards and enhanced economic opportunities tied to better water availability.
