Muthwani MCA Dominic Maitha has allegedly orchestrated his own disappearance in an attempt to escape public humiliation after his failed bid to impeach Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti. Maitha’s hot air motion, quickly collapsed when the majority of MCAs distanced themselves from it, dismissing it as a self-serving ploy. Reports suggest that his actions were influenced by Mavoko MP Patrick Makau, a controversial figure with ambitions for the Machakos gubernatorial seat in 2027. However, as soon as it became evident that his colleagues would not support him, Maitha seemingly resorted to desperate measures to avoid the backlash.

His impeachment threat was first made public during an event hosted by Makau, a politician described as restless and anxious about his dimming prospects against the high-performing Governor Ndeti. Unable to build a credible case, Maitha’s sudden disappearance has sparked widespread speculation, with many believing it to be a calculated attempt to smear the governor’s reputation while drumming up sympathy for Makau. Kinanie MCA Kavyu, a known ally of Makau, fueled further suspicion when he claimed Maitha’s absence was part of a larger scheme to manipulate public opinion against Ndeti. However, Machakos residents have largely dismissed these claims as baseless and politically motivated.

In a move seen as sheer desperation, MP Patrick Makau took to Facebook on Wednesday 26th Morning, insinuating that Maitha’s disappearance was orchestrated by Governor Ndeti. However, this tactic appears to have backfired, exposing Makau’s struggle for political relevance. Critics argue that his attempts to manufacture controversy highlight his declining influence in Machakos politics. Residents have expressed frustration over his theatrics, accusing him of resorting to cheap propaganda instead of engaging in meaningful development initiatives. His antics, they say, only solidify the public’s perception of him as a power-hungry opportunist rather than a leader committed to serving the people.

Despite these political maneuvers, the people of Machakos have reaffirmed their support for Governor Wavinya Ndeti, dismissing Makau and his allies as enemies of progress. They have vowed to protect her leadership from what they describe as power-hungry scavengers attempting to derail the county’s development. With her strong track record, many residents are resolute in their stance that Ndeti must serve two full terms, ensuring that Machakos continues on a path of growth and stability.
