A fresh wind is blowing through Machakos County one that carries with it justice, hope, and long-awaited change. Governor Wavinya Ndeti has announced the promotion of 1,899 county employees, many of whom have been stuck in the same roles since devolution began over a decade ago. Nurses, civil servants, and other dedicated workers will see their promotions take effect from July 1, 2025, with 86 retirees enjoying the honor immediately. It’s more than a raise in job group it’s a revival of dignity.

Governor Wavinya’s voice rang with clarity and purpose: “We have put the right structures in place. Going forward, you don’t have to know anyone to get a promotion.” Her administration is dismantling systems of nepotism and restoring faith in public service. Where corruption once cast a shadow, transparency and fairness are taking root. Money is now being redirected where it belongs to the people who serve, protect, and build the county day in and day out.
In her speech, the Governor urged staff to serve with renewed passion: “Let us remain faithful to our calling. Let us discharge our duties wholeheartedly.” It was both a challenge and a promise. For the first time in years, county employees are being seen, valued, and rewarded not for who they know, but for what they’ve done.

- This is more than a policy shift it’s a moral correction. Wavinya Ndeti is charting a new path forward, one marked by equity, purpose, and unity. And in that path, thousands of county workers now see light at the end of the tunnel.
