what can only be described as a stomach-churning spectacle of greed and mismanagement, Kabati Financial Services Association (FSA) has come under intense public scrutiny following a disgraceful and near-fatal incident at their Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at Mutonguni Garden on Wednesday 28/May 2025. Where Over 3,000 members gathered with high hopes for accountability and progress, but instead, they were met with horror as a middle-aged woman was nearly killed in a desperate stampede for meager bread and soda—lunch offerings insultingly inadequate for such a crowd. Meanwhile, the top brass, led by embattled manager Anne Mutua, shamelessly gorged on catered feasts bought with the very savings of the suffering members.

The victim, whose face was left bloodied and one eye nearly gouged out in the chaos, lay groaning in pain while the management sat back in cold detachment. It wasn’t until fellow members, shocked by the indifference of their so-called leaders, rushed to her aid that she was saved from what could have been a fatal outcome. This incident has ignited outrage across the region, with members now threatening mass withdrawals from the FSA, accusing the management of not just negligence but outright corruption and inhumanity. “It’s a shame,” cried one member, visibly shaken, “to watch our savings feed these tyrants while we scramble for crumbs.”
This isn’t the first time Kabati FSA has landed in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Allegations of embezzlement and internal wrangles have been swirling for months, with similar complaints now echoing from branches in Itoleka and Kiusyani were now KIMA, which was an FSA now Sacco now planning to swallow these FSA signaling a storm that could soon engulf the entire FSA network. But Wednesday’s AGM exposed more than corruption—it exposed a leadership rotten to the core, indifferent to the lives and dignity of the very people it claims to serve.

Members are now questioning not only the integrity of the management but also the basic logistics of the meeting itself. Hosting such a massive event in a venue with only one entrance doubling as the exit and zero emergency preparedness was a disaster waiting to happen. And it nearly did. The grotesque irony is this: while a woman bled and begged for help on the floor of a poorly chosen venue, the management turned their backs and raised glasses over gourmet plates, toasting their own betrayal. If this is the face of Kabati FSA, its days are numbered.

We were able to conduct a phone interview with Anne Mutua, the manager in question, who confirmed that she is indeed aware of the events that transpired during the Kabati FSA Annual General Meeting (AGM). However, during the conversation, she urged our chief editor not to publish the article. Her concern appeared to stem from a perception that we, as Kambaland Times, were operating on behalf of KIMA. Our editor clarified that we are an independent journalistic entity, acting solely as a watchdog for the public interest, and not under the influence of any organization or competitor.
Despite her request to suppress the article, we at Kambaland Times wish to make it unequivocally clear that we are impartial in our reporting. Our commitment is to fair, accurate, and responsible journalism. The article in question is the result of a careful editorial process and is based on verifiable facts.
It is therefore misleading for Manager Anne Mutua to suggest that this report is a product of KIMA. Ironically, KIMA itself is currently under scrutiny, facing significant allegations of acting against the interests of its members by attempting to absorb several FSAs, including Itoleka FSA—a move that has met with strong resistance from the membership. Our aim remains to present all sides with honesty and integrity, without fear or favor.
