Governor Wavinya Ndeti is once again proving that action speaks louder than politics. This Friday, July 18, 2025, she will officially launch a staggering KSh 120 million bursary fund at Ivumbuni Primary School in Mumbuni North Ward a bold and strategic location that reflects her grassroots approach to governance. The bursaries will benefit thousands of needy students across Machakos County, from high schools and TVETs to colleges and universities. This significant increase from the KSh 80 million issued in 2022/2023 had been delayed by a court order freezing all county bursaries, but with that hurdle now behind her, Wavinya is pushing forward undaunted and unwavering.

Under her administration, Machakos is not just investing in education it’s revolutionizing it. Full scholarships for over 300 bright, needy students are already in place, while Wavinya personally funds the education of more than 500 others out of her own pocket. Over 30 new ECDE classrooms have opened their doors, creating space and opportunity for a record jump in enrollment from 37,000 to 47,000 children. Her message is clear: every child deserves access to education, no matter their background.
Meanwhile, the Governor’s Machakos Youth Service program is a blueprint for youth empowerment. With over 1,000 students enrolled per intake, the initiative offers practical training in trades like welding, catering, tailoring, and more. Graduates not only gain skills but also receive startup equipment to kickstart self-employment. Complementing this, the county has invested in building VTCs across the region, with many youths now turning into job creators rather than job seekers proof that the system is working.

Governor Wavinya’s approach to education is holistic and inclusive. Through initiatives like free milk and feeding programs in all public ECDEs and the soon-to-be-unveiled Athi River Digital Hub, she is creating a solid foundation for both learning and livelihoods. Her rallying cry,
#ChakulaMezaniPesaMfukoni, continues to come alive across Machakos. And with the launch of the KSh 120 million bursary fund at Ivumbuni Primary School, the Governor is sending a strong signal: in her Machakos, no student will be left behind.
