Mwingi West MP Charles Ngusya Nguna (CNN) has officially abandoned Kalonzo Musyoka’s Wiper Party and crossed over to President William Ruto’s UDA.

Today, Nguna was hosted at State House where he pledged allegiance to the ruling party.
This defection was long in the making. During the impeachment of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Nguna openly defied Kalonzo’s directive that all Wiper MPs vote *NO*. Instead, he—alongside Mavoko MP Patrick Makau—broke ranks, voting *YES* after reportedly pocketing millions in “incentives.”

Makau has since already silently dumped Wiper for UDA, and now with Nguna’s exit, the duo now faces irate public as they get tags of “wasaliti”. Both MPs are said to have been instructed by State House handlers to cease from any event involving Kalonzo Musyoka(on Monday this week Nguna and Makau skipped Kalonzo Musyoka’s and opposition ally’s rally across machakos to kitui also another key event which Makau and Nguna skipped recently was the wiper’s NEC meeting)—a clear signal they have cut ties and are chasing fortunes in Ruto’s UDA.
In a show of open defiance to Kalonzo, **Mwala MP Vincent Kawaya, who also serves as UDA’s National Organizing Secretary, personally welcomed Nguna into the UDA fold.** Kawaya’s presence not only legitimized the move but also sent a strong message that Nguna’s defection was carefully choreographed within Ruto’s inner circle.

What is unfolding is not just defection—it is betrayal. Nguna, Makau, and now with Kawaya’s hand of welcome, the trio is positioning themselves as catalysts for a wider Wiper exodus, trading Kalonzo’s future for quick political and financial fortunes under UDA.
