A dark cloud of shame has engulfed Machakos County Assembly Speaker Anne Kiusya and her clique of politically bankrupt cronies — led by MCAs Kavyu (Kinanie) and Ngunga (Mua) — after their desperate attempt to soil the image of the Machakos Executive backfired spectacularly. The false propaganda claiming that the county bought one hermetic bag at an outrageous KSh 2,400 has been exposed as deliberate misinformation. Ikombe Ward MCA Fredrick Kitetu, who chairs the Environment and Natural Resources Committee, has now apologized publicly to Machakos residents and the Executive for the misleading report.

(Attached apology by MCAs today below)
He clarified that the committee grossly misrepresented facts — the 9,760 figure referred to beneficiaries, not bags. Each beneficiary received four bags, bringing the total number of purchased bags to 48,800. The correct unit cost per bag, therefore, was KSh 470 (excluding VAT) — a fair market price, contrary to the distorted figures pushed by Kiusya’s camp.

The blunder, or rather calculated deceit, by Speaker Kiusya’s loyalists reeks of political sabotage. On Tuesday, the same MCAs allied to the embattled Speaker convened a malicious press briefing to spread half-baked propaganda aimed at tainting Governor Wavinya Ndeti’s administration. It is now feared that the error was not accidental but orchestrated by officers within the assembly, working hand in glove with Kiusya and her lazy propagandists, to whip up unwarranted public anger against a governor who has consistently been on the frontline of the anti-corruption fight. Leaked conversations have previously exposed how Kiusya’s inner circle plotted smear campaigns to undermine Governor Wavinya’s credibility — a plot that has once again blown up in their faces.

Machakos Deputy Speaker Stephen Mwanthi has strongly condemned the deceitful maneuvers by Kiusya’s faction, calling the episode “a well-coordinated but poorly executed propaganda war.” He expressed disbelief that a supposedly competent committee could capture erroneous data while the official executive records were accurate and clear. Mwanthi noted that such a blatant attempt to mislead the public not only undermines the integrity of the County Assembly but also exposes the dangerous depths to which Kiusya’s team is willing to sink to settle political scores.

Machakos residents, outraged by this reckless and irresponsible behavior, are now demanding a public apology from MCAs Kavyu, Ngunga, and their accomplices. Many have branded them as unfit for public office, describing their actions as a betrayal of public trust and a mockery of leadership. “How can someone like Kavyu, who claims to be educated, fail such basic arithmetic unless his credentials were obtained through dubious means?” one angry resident quipped. The entire scandal has laid bare the incompetence and moral bankruptcy within Speaker Anne Kiusya’s camp — a team that has chosen lies, deceit, and theatrics over truth, service, and integrity.
