Machakos County continues to distinguish itself as a leader in healthcare innovation under the stewardship of Wavinya Ndeti, following a successful advanced surgical training at Machakos County Referral Hospital. The two-day hands-on workshop brought together surgeons, trainees, medical officers, nurses, and biomedical experts to build capacity in modern procedures such as laparoscopy, WALANT, and endoscopy. Officially opened by the County Executive Committee Member for Health, Justus Kasivu, the training underscored the county government’s deliberate investment in equipping medical professionals with practical, cutting-edge skills that directly benefit patients.

The initiative was further strengthened by the recent installation of a state-of-the-art laparoscopy tower, a major boost to the hospital’s ability to perform minimally invasive surgeries. Experts, including Professor Pankaj Jani, highlighted the advantages of such procedures—reduced pain, minimal scarring, fewer infections, and faster recovery times. This milestone reflects the Wavinya administration’s clear commitment to transforming healthcare delivery in Machakos through strategic investment in technology and continuous professional development. With such forward-looking leadership, the county is steadily elevating the quality of care and expanding access to advanced medical services for its residents.
