The announcement was made during a Madaraka Day media briefing on Friday.

PS Bitok revealed that President William Ruto will officially inaugurate the office later in the afternoon. This new facility will cater to residents from four counties in the western region: Bungoma, Busia, Kakamega, and Trans-Nzoia.

“The new Bungoma Immigration office is a significant development for the region, as it will serve at least 5 million people,” said Bitok. He added that the office will provide various immigration services, including the issuance of passports.

Addressing the issue of passport backlogs, PS Bitok announced that the government has acquired two new machines capable of printing 500 passports per hour. “We no longer have a backlog for passports. All passports are now available, and we can process applications within 14 days,” he stated.

Bitok also encouraged Kenyans to use the eCitizen portal for accessing all government services, highlighting the platform’s role in the government’s revenue collection efforts. “At least 300,000 people are visiting the eCitizen platform daily, generating over Ksh700 million in revenue. Our target is to collect Ksh2 billion per day and Ksh1.4 trillion per year,” he said.

By Veronicah Stellah Friday, 31st May 2024 The Principal Secretary of the State Department for Immigration and Citizen

[18

post-1360","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-newsbeat
https://kambalandtimes.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/pk.png",225,224,false
https://kambalandtimes.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/pk-150x150.png",150,150,true
https://kambalandtimes.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/pk.png",225,224,false
https://kambalandtimes.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/pk.png",225,224,false
https://kambalandtimes.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/pk.png",225,224,false],"1536x1536":["https://kambalandtimes.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/pk.png",225,224,false],"2048x2048":["https://kambalandtimes.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/pk.png",225,224,false
https://kambalandtimes.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/pk.png",225,224,false
https://kambalandtimes.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/pk.png",225,224,false
https://kambalandtimes.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/pk.png",225,224,false
["GET
