The Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) has decided to retract its planned teachers\u2019 strike, initially set to begin on Monday, August 26. The decision was made on Sunday following an intense meeting by the union\u2019s National Executive Council at their Nairobi headquarters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Knut Secretary-General Collins Oyuu announced that the union chose to suspend the strike to allow the Teachers Service Commission more time to address their pressing concerns. He urged all union members to resume their duties and report to schools as scheduled on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In response to the union’s decision, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos expressed his gratitude, urging parents to ensure their children return to school on Monday. He further assured that the government is committed to resolving the outstanding issues raised by the teachers’ union, signaling a potential thaw in the standoff between educators and the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
