IIkanga\/Kyatune Ward MCA and 2027 Kitui South incoming MP Hon. Cyrus Musyoka Sonko has called for the immediate release of Nguni Ward MCA Hon. Jeremiah Mutua, also known as Nzou who was arrested earlier today by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), allegedly in response to his unwavering stance against Somali herders encroaching on Kitui lands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These herders, who have been trespassing into Nguni Ward, are accused of illegally grazing their camels on local farmland, causing widespread destruction and distress for the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hon. Sonko expressed grave concerns about the circumstances surrounding Nzou\u2019s arrest, particularly the lack of communication and transparency. According to Sonko, no official record of Mutua\u2019s detention was filed with the Kitui County DCI office, fueling speculation that the MCA may have been transferred to Embu County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sonko criticized the decision, arguing that if Mutua had indeed violated any laws, he should have been processed through the local DCI offices in Kitui rather than being whisked away in secrecy and held incommunicado.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The outspoken leader decried what he views as an alarming trend of silencing and intimidating leaders who are committed to defending the rights of their communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sonko condemned these actions, stating that it is unacceptable for those who stand up for their people to face such harsh retribution, leaving the very communities they represent vulnerable and voiceless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
