Kitui\u00a0 County\u2019s Chief Officer for Agriculture and Fisheries, Gladys Kivoto, alongside Hon. Mwangu Ivuti, represented Governor Dr. Julius Malombe at the burial of Isaac Malombe Matheka in Ngwani sub-location, Ikanga\/Kyatune ward. Isaac tragically lost his life in a road accident along the Kitui-Kibwezi highway at Kwa Toma stage when a speeding car veered off and struck him, killing him on the spot.<\/p>\n

During her speech, Kivoto urged farmers to adopt drought-resistant crops due to the region\u2019s erratic rainfall. She also encouraged them to preserve their harvests, announcing that Kitui South farmers will soon benefit from an edible oil refinery dedicated to sunflower processing. She commended Governor Malombe\u2019s commitment to supporting agriculture, emphasizing that the initiative would provide a significant economic boost to local farmers.<\/p>\n

Hon. Mwangu Ivuti reaffirmed the governor\u2019s dedication to delivering on his promises, highlighting key achievements such as water projects, ECD classroom construction, dispensaries, and road improvements. Residents of Ngwani expressed gratitude for the county government\u2019s efforts, particularly in addressing water shortages through dam construction and borehole drilling.<\/p>\n

The residents urged area MP Hon. Kaki to take swift action and push the national government, through KENHA, to install speed bumps at critical sections of the road to curb the rising fatalities. They emphasized that reckless driving has claimed too many lives and called for immediate intervention to prevent further tragedies.<\/p>\n

Following the burial, Kivoto and Ivuti extended condolences on behalf of Governor Malombe to the family of the late Jeremiah Mwema Nzuki in Kanziko ward. Mwema, a close ally of the governor, passed away at the age of 75 after a prolonged illness. The leaders praised his contributions to Kitui\u2019s development and assured his family of the county\u2019s support during this difficult time.<\/p>\n
