On Thursday, 1st May \u2014 Labour Day. After watching President William Ruto\u2019s speech during the national celebration, I took my lunch and set out for my usual errands at Muli Mall. Little did I know, I was walking straight into a trap.<\/p>\n

I entered Muli Mall through the West entrance and climbed the stairs as I always do, unaware that DCI sleuths had been camping there for hours. Their mission to nab an innocent man \u2014 Hopkin Digital CEO. What I didn\u2019t know then was that my betrayal had already been sealed, Judas-style, by a well-known, bleached, and unshapely goon affiliated with one of Kitui\u2019s notorious MP. This woman and the sleuths according to my moles, had been trailing me in vain. But on this day, dressed in a buggy kitambaa trouser, the ugly fat woman pleaded with the detectives to let her point me out from a distance, fearing I might recognize her on sight. She succeeded\u00a0 and my fate was sealed.<\/p>\n

Oblivious, I went upstairs to a bookshop to enquire about some revision materials for my kin. That\u2019s when it happened. Three plain-clothes officers approached. One called out my name: “Emmanuel, how is you?” Another, speaking in a heavy Kalenjin accent, said: “Sisi ni officers, cooperate twende pale station,” as they snapped the cold handcuffs on my wrists. I didn\u2019t resist. Calmly, I called my friend Joshua, who was in the next stall, and asked him to follow us.<\/p>\n

This was my first-ever arrest since the promulgation of the 2010 Constitution. As we descended the stairs and exited through the northern gate (opposite Quickmart), I spotted the vehicle they had come in a KCQ 184 U with their driver waiting. One officer opened the door, and I was sandwiched between two armed sleuths. One a Warrior was the co driver. The driver, an older man from the Murima .<\/p>\n

We arrived at the station and went straight to the OB room. That\u2019s when it dawned on me these were no local cops. They introduced themselves as DCI officers from headquarters, Kiambu Road. They registered my arrest for cyberbullying and casually mentioned they were taking me to Nairobi.<\/p>\n

By now, word had spread. Friends and colleagues began arriving at the station, demanding answers. The sleuths stayed mum, though one slipped his contact to my people. Deep down, I knew\u00a0 without a shadow of doubt\u00a0 that Kitui South MP Dr. Rachael Kaki Nyamai was the hand behind this sinister plot.<\/p>\n

Around 3 PM, they bundled me back into their KCQ 184 U vehicle. I sat between my captors again\u00a0 their guns brushing against me, torture devices in full display. At one point, they even threatened to castrate me if I didn\u2019t cooperate. That\u2019s when it hit me: this wasn\u2019t just an arrest. It was a carefully orchestrated intimidation, meant to break me.<\/p>\n

We left Kitui, bound for the DCI Headquarters. My 20-hour nightmare in handcuffs had just begun.<\/p>\n
