His entry into the race has sent shockwaves through the ward, unsettling the incumbent Benjamin Kinyungu and rattling other aspiring candidates who had hoped for a smooth ride.

Tom Masyuki is quickly gaining traction, especially among the youth. Educated, well-spoken, and with solid networks both in Kenya and abroad, Masyuki is being hailed as a “game changer” by many. In fact, youth groups across Lower Kaewa have dubbed him “The Tsunami” a force too powerful to ignore.

Masyuki’s candidacy is especially significant because of his roots in Kithia sub-location a region known for its high voter population. For 3 years, the current MCA, Benjamin Kinyungu, has enjoyed political dominance partly due to the lack of strong opposition from Kithia and larger lower Kaewa. Masyuki’s emergence now breaks this monopoly, presenting a formidable challenge and altering the 2027 electoral matrix entirely.

> “For the first time, Kithia has produced a strong contender. Tom represents hope, progress, and youth inclusion. We’re no longer spectators — we’re ready to lead,” said Martin Mbithi, a youth leader from Kithia.

Known for his integrity and progressive ideas, Masyuki has already begun engaging with grassroots groups, women’s associations, and youth initiatives. His campaign promises include transparent bursary allocation, youth empowerment through vocational training programs, infrastructure upgrades, and greater community involvement in county budgeting processes.

Observers note that Masyuki’s connections with development partners and NGOs both locally and internationally could bring in much-needed investments to Lower Kaewa. If elected, he is expected to leverage these relationships to foster socioeconomic transformation in the ward.

Picture: Tom masyuki with governor Sakaya

While Kinyungu remains confident in his record, the growing support for Masyuki suggests that the 2027 MCA race will be fiercely competitive.
