Governor Dr. Julius Malombe has nominated three individuals to high-ranking leadership roles in Kitui County, signaling a strategic move to entrench professionalism and efficiency in county governance. The names Agnes Kawila Mulewa for County Secretary, Timothy Kyalo Muange for County Attorney, and Christopher Okumu Ombunya for Secretary to the County Public Service Board were forwarded to the County Assembly on August 5, 2025, for formal vetting and approval.<\/p>\n

Of the three, Agnes Mulewa’s nomination is a resounding endorsement of performance and dedication. Having served as the acting County Secretary and head of administration, Mulewa has been instrumental in transforming county operations. Her tenure has been marked by sweeping administrative reforms, improved interdepartmental coordination, and a renewed sense of accountability across all county departments.<\/p>\n

The selection process, guided by the County Governments (Amendment) Act, 2020, was conducted by a panel chaired by Dr. Nzomo Mwita and attracted 63 valid applications following a public advertisement on June 30. Governor Malombe emphasized that the process was merit-driven, and each nominee emerged as the top-ranked candidate in their respective category.
