A new dawn has arrived for the people of Ngwani, Kiangwa, and Kathungu villages following the successful rehabilitation of Manzee Dam by the Ministry of Agriculture, Kitui County.<\/p>\n
Under the committed leadership of County Executive Committee Member (C.E.C.M) for Agriculture, Hon. Gladys Mami Kivoto, the once-silted and neglected Manzee Dam has been restored to full functionality \u2014 a true lifeline for the community.<\/p>\n
For years, residents living around the dam struggled with water shortages that affected farming, livestock, and household needs. Today, thanks to this transformative project, hope and opportunity are flowing once again.<\/p>\n
Hon. Gladys Kivoto emphasized that reviving such water sources is at the heart of Governor\u2019s agricultural agenda, aimed at promoting food security, agribusiness, and sustainable livelihoods. She noted that with the completion of the project, nearby farmers will now be able to practice irrigated farming, ensuring year-round food production and income generation.<\/p>\n
\u201cWater is life, and agriculture is the backbone of our county\u2019s economy. By restoring Manzee Dam, we are restoring dignity, productivity, and prosperity to our people,\u201d she said during a site visit.<\/p>\n
Residents of Ngwani, Kiangwa, and Kathungu expressed their gratitude, saying the project will not only reduce the long treks in search of water but also provide opportunities for fish farming and small-scale irrigation.<\/p>\n
The Manzee Dam revival stands as a shining example of what good leadership and focused investment can achieve. It represents a renewed promise \u2014 that with the right priorities, Kitui County can harness its natural resources to uplift every community.<\/p>\n
