Kitui Governor Julius Malombe has called for unity and collective leadership as the County Executive and County Assembly commenced consultative discussions on the FY 2026\/2027 Annual Budget Estimates at Mutomo. Speaking during the opening of the four-day forum, Governor Malombe said the consultations demonstrate a shared commitment to prioritizing the interests of wananchi above political differences and institutional boundaries. He urged leaders to remain focused on delivering results, noting that residents expect leadership that is united, decisive, and development-oriented.<\/p>\n

The Governor highlighted the county\u2019s achievements under devolution, revealing that 12,423 development projects have been implemented across Kitui since 2013. He also pointed to the newly launched Infrastructure Projects Dashboard as a major step toward improving transparency and accountability in public service delivery. According to Governor Malombe, the consultative forum seeks to strengthen cooperation between the Executive and the Assembly, harmonize budget timelines, and prepare the groundwork for effective public participation in the FY 2026\/2027 budget-making process.<\/p>\n

Among the key resolutions discussed during the forum are the construction of all 40 MCA ward offices in two phases, establishment of six modern ECDE classrooms per ward, recruitment of more ECDE teachers and VTC tutors, and increased investment in Vocational Training Centres. The county leadership also resolved to prioritize road infrastructure projects to improve connectivity across all wards despite delays in the release of the Road Maintenance Levy Fund (RMLF). County Assembly Speaker Kevin Kinengo urged members to work together for the common good and resolve disputes amicably, while Deputy Governor Augustine Kanani emphasized that unity between the Executive and the Assembly is essential for effective service delivery and sustainable county growth.<\/p>\n
