Machakos County Governor Wavinya Ndeti has reaffirmed her administration\u2019s commitment to investing in sustainable water infrastructure as part of efforts to improve livelihoods and strengthen climate resilience across the county. The governor said the county government is prioritizing projects that enhance access to water while supporting economic growth and helping communities adapt to the challenges posed by climate change.<\/p>\n

Among the flagship projects is Maluva Dam in Sengani, which continues to provide a vital source of water for domestic use, livestock, and agricultural activities. The dam has become an important resource for surrounding communities, supporting food production and improving the welfare of households that depend on reliable water supplies for their daily needs and livelihoods.<\/p>\n

To maximize the dam\u2019s benefits, the county government undertook a desilting exercise and stocked the reservoir with fish, laying the groundwork for aquaculture and future income-generating opportunities. Governor Ndeti said plans are also underway to fence the dam to safeguard the investment, ensure its protection, and promote safe and sustainable use of the resource for the long-term benefit of the community.<\/p>\n
