Machakos County has erupted in condemnation against Mavoko MP Patrick Makau and his camp over what residents and leaders have termed as a desperate and malicious propaganda campaign targeting Governor Wavinya Ndeti and spreading propaganda that governor wavinya Ndeti has exited wiper party .
In a poorly orchestrated scheme, Makau who is eyeing the Wiper Democratic Movement’s ticket for the Machakos gubernatorial race in 2027 is accused of deploying his political associate, to peddle falsehoods that Governor Wavinya Ndeti has defected to the Chama Cha Uzalendo (CCU) party. The claims, which have no factual basis, have been widely dismissed by locals as a cowardly attempt to dent the governor’s rising popularity.
Residents of Machakos have responded with fury, saying they are not ready for Makau’s political games and that they are firmly behind Governor Wavinya Ndeti, whom they describe as a transformative leader committed to inclusive development. According to the residents, the false propaganda only exposes Makau’s fear of facing Wavinya in a fair nomination process.
“Makau knows very well that if he dares to challenge Governor Wavinya for the Wiper ticket, he will be defeated like shit,That’s why he’s resorting to dirty tricks and lies,” said a resident from masinga . “Instead of trying to sabotage her, he should concentrate on delivering in Mavoko, where he has failed dismally.”
One Mavoko local didn’t mince words in his scathing critique of the MP. “Makau has done nothing for us. Roads are poor, youth are jobless, and he has been stealing NG-CDF money,If he thinks he can be governor, let him know he’s not even welcome to vie as our MP again,” the resident told our reporter.
Governor Ndeti, who continues to receive accolades for her developmental projects across all sub-counties, has chose ti maintain silence and concentrate on delivering her promises to machakos residents amidst the smear campaign, focusing instead on service delivery. Her administration has launched infrastructure projects, upgraded health facilities, and expanded educational programs across Machakos, efforts that have solidified her political footing.
Local leaders, community elders, and youth groups have thrown their weight behind Wavinya, vowing to defend her from political scavengers who seek power through deceit and manipulation.
“If Makau thinks he can shake our confidence in Governor Wavinya, he’s mistaken. Let him wait for 2027 and come face us at the ballot—we’ll teach him a lesson and end his scavenger politics once and for all,” a youth leader in Kangundo said.
With overwhelming support across the county, it’s evident that Governor Wavinya Ndeti remains the people’s choice, and no amount of propaganda will derail her from serving Machakos for the full 10 years she deserves. Patrick Makau’s camp, on the other hand, might need to rethink their tactics or risk complete political irrelevance.
