People-centred development is about investing in services that directly improve the daily lives of citizens, Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has said. Speaking during a tour of Kathiani Central Development Ward, the Governor began her programme at Kathiani Level 4 Hospital, where she commissioned an ongoing solarisation project comprising 90 solar panels, each with a capacity of 560 watts, alongside a 45kWh battery storage system.

The current phase of the project will provide reliable power for the hospital’s critical operations, while a subsequent phase will expand the battery capacity to meet the facility’s full power demand. The investment is expected to reduce the hospital’s reliance on the national grid and lower operational costs, enabling more resources to be channelled towards improving patient care and strengthening healthcare services for residents.
