Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe has commissioned the KSh21.58 million Karumu–Kaningo Sumpwell Water Supply Project in Tseikuru Ward. The solar-powered project was implemented under the Financing Locally-Led Climate Action (FLoCCA) Programme during the 2024/2025 Financial Year to improve access to clean and reliable water in the area.

The project will benefit more than 600 households through three community water kiosks located in Karumu, Kaningo and Thangatha. It also supplies water to nearby schools, Kaningo Dispensary and homes connected through individual household water lines. An additional Kwa Kamali Water Kiosk was later linked to the system through a pipeline extension funded under the Equalization Fund Programme.

Managed by KIMWASCO, the water project complements other ongoing water investments in Tseikuru, including boreholes, pipeline extensions, sand dams and earth dam desilting initiatives. Governor Malombe was accompanied during the commissioning by Tseikuru Ward MCA Hon. Kimanzi Muange, alongside senior County and National Government officials. Friday, 21 August 2026.
