A total of 648 goats have been distributed to 32 farming groups, alongside 5,728 improved chicks given to 10 others signaling a deliberate shift toward livestock and poultry that offer higher returns. Adding buzz to the initiative, 32 modern beekeeping kits have also been handed out, equipping farmers with tools to harvest nature’s golden income. The goal? To transform these local farmers into resilient, financially stable entrepreneurs under the governor’s dynamic slogan: “Chakula Mezani, Pesa Mfukoni.”

This is not just about livestock Machakos County is also feeding hope into the soil. The Ministry of Agriculture has rolled out 198 bags of fertilizer, paired with 1,216 yield storage bags and essential insecticides. These tools aim to combat post-harvest losses and crop diseases, two silent threats that have haunted smallholder farmers for decades. The distribution is part of a comprehensive push to secure sustainable yields and promote modern farming practices that align with climate resilience and food security goals.
