Machakos County Governor Wavinya Ndeti today commissioned the Kyaume Dispensary Maternity Wing, a landmark project aimed at bringing critical maternal health services closer to the people. The new facility underscores the county government’s commitment to improving healthcare access and ensuring that mothers and newborns receive quality medical attention within their communities.

The maternity wing is expected to serve more than 5,200 residents in the area, with approximately 600 women from Kyaume, Sengani, Katine, Mangauni, and Manza set to benefit directly from the enhanced services. By providing access to skilled delivery care closer to home, the facility will help ease the challenges faced by expectant mothers who previously had to travel long distances to seek maternal healthcare.

Governor Ndeti said the new maternity unit will play a vital role in reducing delays in seeking care, improving access to safe deliveries, and enhancing maternal and newborn health outcomes. The facility is expected to strengthen community healthcare services by ensuring timely interventions and quality care, contributing to healthier families and improved well-being across the region.
