The rise in popularity of Gladys Kivoto has reportedly rattled incumbent Kitui South MP Rachel Kaki to the extent of allegedly running to State House to seek intervention to curb Kivoto’s growing influence. Gladys Kivoto is said to enjoy massive support in Kitui South, and her 2027 MP candidature is reportedly making the incumbent sleepless. It is claimed that this is why the EACC today arrested Gladys and others, alleging that she was involved in a conflict of interest and money laundering as the Kitui County Chief Officer. The arrest is alleged to have been influenced by Rachel Kaki, who is renowned for being a State House twerker.
Rumours from Kaki’s close associates claim that she received a report from the NIS indicating that her chances of reclaiming her seat in the 2027 election were minimal. It is said that the report prompted Kaki to camp outside State House, seeking state support to tame Gladys Kivoto’s influence. According to the rumours, senior figures at State House promised to deal with Kivoto’s growing influence, and within a few weeks, Gladys was arrested.
Rachel Kaki is widely alleged to be a corrupt leader, with some residents referring to her as the “Corruption Queen.” She is also alleged to have siphoned millions from the NG-CDF kitty while boasting that she is untouchable because she is a close associate of President Ruto.
According to our source, who requested to remain anonymous, the NIS report showed Gladys Kivoto commanding 70% support and having a strong chance of defeating Rachel Kaki in the 2027 general election.
Residents of Kitui South have reportedly vowed to send Rachel Kaki home early, saying that no intimidation will deter them from supporting another candidate instead of Rachel Kaki.
Kambaland Investigation Bureau is keenly digging deeper to obtain a more detailed report exposing the alleged plans by Rachel Kaki to use State House machinery to eliminate anyone perceived as a threat to her seat ahead of the 2027 elections.
