The ranking of Governor Wavinya Ndeti as the second-best performing governor by Politrack Africa is not a matter of debate it is a reflection of tangible, verifiable progress across Machakos County. In an environment where leadership is often defined by promises, her administration has stood out for confronting systemic failures head-on dismantling cartels in water and health, sealing revenue leakages, and restoring accountability in public service. The result is a county that is working again, with citizens beginning to feel the presence and impact of government.

Through her Barabara Mashinani initiative, she has redefined rural connectivity by deploying 13 graders and tarmacking key roads, opening up villages to markets and urban centers. In education, her administration has invested heavily disbursing hundreds of millions in bursaries, constructing ECDE centers, and introducing free feeding and milk programs for young learners. At the same time, vocational training centers have been equipped with modern technology, while the Machakos Youth Service continues to train and graduate youth who are then provided with tools to start businesses ensuring skills translate into livelihoods.

Her economic empowerment model is deliberate and far-reaching. Women groups are now running income-generating ventures using tents, chairs, and cooking equipment provided by the county, while youth are benefiting from car wash machines, water tanks, digital skills training, and driving opportunities. Farmers across all 40 wards have received free seedlings, pesticides, and subsidized fertilizers, alongside support for poultry through chick distribution, aquaculture through fish stocking in farms and public dams, and modern beekeeping initiatives. Coffee cooperative societies have also received capital boosts through partnerships, strengthening farmer incomes and revitalizing the sector.

In healthcare and development, the impact is equally visible. More than 26 new health facilities have been constructed, others upgraded from level 3 to 4, and the ongoing construction of Muindi Mbingu Level 6 Hospital signals a long-term vision for specialized care. Her administration has ensured timely supply of drugs while tightening systems to curb theft cartels. Investments in water infrastructure dams, boreholes, water weirs, and rehabilitation of existing systems have significantly reduced scarcity, while firm action has restored order in water companies in towns like Machakos and Mavoko. Beyond this, towns such as Machakos, Kangundo, and Mavoko have been elevated to municipalities, boosting urban growth, while county revenue has doubled from KSh 1.1 billion to KSh 2.1 billion through automation. She has also promoted long-serving county staff and nurtured youth talent through the Governor’s Cup, where winners are investing in ventures like poultry and table banking clear evidence that this ranking is not perception, but performance.
