Kitui County has continued to earn national recognition for its commitment to development under the leadership of Governor Dr. Julius Malombe. According to county fiscal performance for the 2024/2025 Financial Year, Kitui is ranked among the Top 10 counties in development spending, with approximately Ksh. 3 billion allocated to development projects. This places the county alongside other top-performing counties such as Narok, Kiambu, Nakuru, and Wajir.
The recognition reflects the county government’s continued investment in key sectors aimed at improving the lives of residents. Over the past few years, the Malombe administration has prioritized infrastructure development, healthcare, water projects, education support, and community-based initiatives across the county.
The Controller of Budget has previously identified Kitui among the counties with the highest expenditure on development projects, highlighting the county’s focus on implementing projects rather than concentrating spending on recurrent expenses.
Governor Malombe has consistently stated that equitable development across all wards remains a key objective of his administration.
