Yesterday’s victory by the United Opposition candidate in the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election has added fresh momentum to Kenya’s changing political landscape. Coming just six months after Governor Wavinya Ndeti led the Wiper Party to victory in the Mumbuni North Ward by-election, the two results are being interpreted by supporters as a sign of growing public support for the opposition ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Despite state house huge funding campaigns and investment to UDA SYMPATHIZERS , Governor Wavinya successfully mobilized support in Mumbuni North defeating state funded candidate , demonstrating her political influence and grassroots appeal.
Beyond politics, Governor Wavinya’s supporters point to her administration’s development record in Mumbuni North and all other wards of machakos. Following the death of former MCA Mr. Kavuu, they say her government continued implementing development projects without interruption until the election of Wiper MCA Antony Kisoi.

Among the projects frequently highlighted are the modern Kwa Musyoka Dispensary, which serves more than 32,000 residents, and the Kamuthanga Dispensary Maternity Ward, which serves over 5,000 residents. Residents describe these projects as evidence of leadership focused on service delivery rather than political rhetoric.

As some UDA leaders continue holding political activities in Mumbuni North in the name of launching dormitory, Wiper supporters maintain that the ward has already demonstrated where its political confidence lies.

To them, the Mumbuni North by-election was not an isolated victory, and the Ol Kalou result reinforces that belief. They argue that both outcomes reflect an emerging political trend that will shape the road to the 2027 General Election.
