Governor Wavinya Ndeti’s strong performance is rooted in visible service delivery and disciplined governance. Her administration has prioritized healthcare improvement, including upgrading health facilities, ensuring availability of medicines, and improving access to quality care for residents. These interventions have directly improved livelihoods and restored public confidence in county health services.
In infrastructure and urban development, Machakos has recorded steady progress through improved roads, drainage systems, and modern market facilities, boosting trade and easing movement across the county. Her commitment to planned urban growth has positioned Machakos ahead of many counties in attracting investors and creating jobs.

She has also excelled in youth and women empowerment by rolling out skills development programs, supporting small and medium enterprises, and expanding access to county opportunities. This inclusive approach has ensured that development reaches the grassroots rather than remaining concentrated at the top.

Notably, Governor Wavinya’s performance stands out even when compared to other governors on the list. While many counties continue to face stalled projects, service delivery gaps, and governance challenges, Machakos has demonstrated consistency, stability, and measurable progress under her leadership. Finishing second nationally, ahead of most governors and just behind Anne Waiguru, underscores the impact of her leadership and explains why she is widely regarded as one of Kenya’s top-performing county governors.
