Governor Wavinya Ndeti today delivered a strong and inspiring message during the launch of the Agripreneur Extension Model at Kasinga Farmers’ Cooperative Society in Mumbuni North Ward, Machakos. She reminded residents that agriculture is the backbone of the county’s economy. It puts food on the table, provides income for families, and supports the growth of local communities. She stressed that helping farmers is key to building a better and more prosperous future for everyone.
The event brought together farmers, youth, cooperatives, and local leaders, all eager to see the new program take off. Governor Wavinya issued grants to several cooperative societies and newly formed farmers’ SACCOs as part of the *Chakula Mezani, Pesa Mfukoni* initiative. She said these funds will support farmers and help make agriculture more productive and profitable. Her message was clear: strong support for farmers will lead to stronger families and a stronger county.
A major highlight of the launch was the introduction of 170 trained young agripreneurs who will work directly with farmers. These young people will help farmers get training, digitize their farm data, access farm inputs, and find better markets for their produce. By using technology and new skills, the county hopes to make farming more modern, efficient, and attractive to the youth.
Governor Wavinya also assured farmers that her government will continue efforts in livestock vaccination, improving extension services, and modernizing the coffee sector. Her message gave hope and confidence to many in attendance. With this new model and continued support, Machakos is set for a major shift in agriculture—one that promises better harvests, better incomes, and a brighter future for all farmers.
