In a thunderous address following a church service at Katangi Catholic Parish in Yatta, Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti reaffirmed her position as one of Kenya’s most fearless and reform-driven county leaders. Speaking with conviction and clarity, the governor laid bare the transformation her administration has sparked most notably, the unprecedented rise in Machakos’ own-source revenue, which has surged from KSh 1.1 billion under her predecessor’s decade-long rule to a record-breaking KSh 2 billion in just under three years. “The noise you hear is from desperate thieves,” she declared, “those who used to siphon public funds but can no longer access the gravy train.” With a bold vision, Wavinya promised to push the figure to KSh 7 billion, underscoring her commitment to financial independence and resilience even as national government delays in revenue disbursement continue to bite.

Unflinching in the face of political threats and intimidation, Governor Wavinya made it clear that her leadership is anchored on integrity and guided by divine purpose. “I am a God-fearing leader and a lioness,” she said, warning those hoping to weaken her resolve that she would not allow Machakos’ hard-earned resources to be looted. Her passionate defense of clean governance was also a powerful rebuttal to chauvinistic critics undermining her administration for being woman-led. “Those men eyeing my seat in 2027 should prepare for an unseen political showdown,” she said, drawing roaring cheers. Her message was not just political it was deeply personal, echoing a lifetime of service, strength, and refusal to be bullied into silence or submission.

True to her promise of transformative leadership, Governor Wavinya rolled out a wave of development achievements and pledges that are already reshaping Machakos. She thanked the people of Yatta for their overwhelming support in the 2022 elections and pointed to the ongoing tarmacking of the Katangi–Kithimani Road as a living symbol of promises kept. Looking ahead, she announced the upcoming construction of a Level 5 hospital in Matuu and a Level 4 facility in Katangi critical investments in healthcare access. To improve road infrastructure, she also pledged to procure nine new road graders to rehabilitate and expand road networks across the county. Every project, she emphasized, is funded through the county’s own resources, proof that clean governance breeds progress.

In a strategic political call to arms, Wavinya urged the Ukambani electorate to rally behind Wiper Party candidates in 2027—from MCAs to governors in support of Kalonzo Musyoka’s presidential bid. She blamed some of the county’s internal challenges on MCAs who were elected outside the Wiper banner, accusing them of shielding impunity within the county assembly. With her Deputy Governor Hon. Francis Mwangi, MCAs, and senior county officials at her side, Governor Wavinya Ndeti didn’t just speak she roared, embodying the spirit of a leader fiercely devoted to her people, her principles, and the promise of a renewed, accountable Machakos.
